Get Ready
A bit of soul/jazz from Germany.
This is ‘Get Ready’ feat. Karl Frierson, by The Hi-Fly Orchestra on Agogo Records (2013).
Ergocentric
Some 70s throwback…
‘Ergocentric’ by François Rolland on Harlem Pop Trotters.
Jazz/funk/groove at its best!
The Quick Brown Foxtrot
‘The Quick Brown Foxtrot’ by Skeewiff & Syd Dale, on Pedigree Cuts (2013).
Love a good cheesy jazz / DnB combo.
MIMS Guest Mix: NEIL BOPPERSON (WahWah45’s, UK)
I don’t usually post full mixes on here (follow me on Mixcloud if you want to catch all that) but this is an absolutely brilliant mix of jazz/funk/soul I had to share – a guest mix from the house of Wah Wah 45s no less, for Music Is My Sanctuary – two of may favourite sources of great beats combined!
Brand new mix in the MIMS Guest series. This one comes from our Neil Bopperson, a great eclectic-minded DJ who is affiliated with the great WahWah45’s label. (Shout out to Dom & Scrimshire!)
I met Neil at a festival a couple years ago and have been asking him for a guest mix ever since. As always, we give our DJ friends and music heads absolute carte blanche when making a mix. New, old, dance floor or headphones oriented.
He put together a really great mix with tons of slept-on and forgotten treasures as we like to say.
From Neil Bopperson: “Old tunes, new tunes, old tunes with a new twist, recently reissued tunes, or a tune that I’ve just finished making myself, This mix goes right across the board while maintaining a vibe that is tight. Just as I like to do it in my DJ sets”
The Beat Goes On
And why not follow with ‘The Beat Goes On’ by Buddy Rich. Great for a d&b mix.
I had no idea it was his daughter, Cathy, on the vocals!
